Haverhill High qualified for the postseason for the second straight year via a 5-1 win over Methuen in the Hillies' regular season finale. Freshman Cam Berube, Kyle Gosselin and Josh Goldstein all had a goal and an assist for the winners.

Methuen took a 3-0 first period lead on goals by Mike Baglieri, Pat Cooper and Pete Menzies and held on for the 3-2 win behind some clutch work in net by Christian Mazzone (24 saves). Menzies was singled out for his energetic play while Cam O'Hearn led the defense.

Brett Blackwell scored two goals as Methuen rallied from a goal down in the third to beat Somerville 5-3.

Pat Cooper (second period) and Matt O'Connor (5 minutes left in game) scored as Methuen erased an early 2-0 deficit to tie Concord-Carlisle 2-2. The Rangers narrowly missed a breakaway with 15 seconds remaining.

METHUEN — Both the Rangers (winless) and the Hillies from Haverhill (undefeated) brought mini three-game streaks into last night's Merrimack Valley Conference affair.

And both of those streaks were snapped.

Mike Baglieri broke a tie with four minutes left to lift Methuen (4-1) to a 3-2 victory over Somerville. Connor Dickson had two assists for the Rangers.
