Lawrence falls in 11 innings, game ends at 1:25 a.m.

LOWELL – What began so brilliantly for the Lawrence High baseball team at 9:43 p.m. ended in heartbreak, nearly four hours later at 1:25 a.m., as the Lancers dropped an 11-inning epic to Chelmsford in the Division 1 North championship game, 6-4, here at LeLacheur Park.

Rangers pull it out

 

Methuen's baseball team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Chelmsford, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Jacob Wallace went the distance for the Rangers (6-7) , striking out 10 while scattering six hits, while Shane Godek (2 for 4) and Danny Bonanno had the RBIs.

Mercuri-al performance

Mike Mercuri fired a 3-hitter and fanned seven and Central Catholic beat Chelmsford 3-2. The Raiders scored all three runs in the sixth with Steven Hajjar's two-out RBI single plating fellow frosh Dom Keegan on tie it. Jack Silk's bloop single scored pinch-runner Nick Warden with the game winner.

Knights stay hot

Evan Glew continued his strong pitching, winning his third of the season by allowing three hits and no earned runs while striking out eight in a 7-2 win over Chelmsford. Mitch McQuate provided much of the offense with a three-run homer in the third while fellow soph Trevor Ham went 3 for 3.
