Lacrosse Finals: Astros dethrone 5-time defending champ BG

EXETER – It's been a long time coming, but the Astros are finally back on top.

The Pinkerton boys lacrosse team beat Bishop Guertin 9-7 in Saturday night's Division 1 state championship game, denying the Cardinals their sixth-straight title while winning the program's 10th title overall, and it's first since 2006.

Pinkerton advances

The Pinkerton boys lacrosse team moved one step closer to its 10th state championship on Saturday, beating Hanover 19-9 in the Division 1 quarterfinal. Jack Hanaway led the Astros with 5 goals, and Todd Billetter and Brett Dattilo each had 4 goals. The Astros will face Bedford in the Division 1 semifinal this Wednesday at 5 p.m.
