EXETER – It's been a long time coming, but the Astros are finally back on top.

The Pinkerton boys lacrosse team beat Bishop Guertin 9-7 in Saturday night's Division 1 state championship game, denying the Cardinals their sixth-straight title while winning the program's 10th title overall, and it's first since 2006.

The Pinkerton boys lacrosse team moved one step closer to its 10th state championship on Saturday, beating Hanover 19-9 in the Division 1 quarterfinal. Jack Hanaway led the Astros with 5 goals, and Todd Billetter and Brett Dattilo each had 4 goals. The Astros will face Bedford in the Division 1 semifinal this Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Todd Billetter scored five goals to power Pinkerton to a 9-5 win at Souhegan. It was just the second loss of the year for the Sabers (9-2).

Brett Dattilo won 16 of 18 faceoffs and Todd Billetter and Jack Hanaway both scored three goals in Pinkerton's 8-6 win over Exeter.

John Derhak scored three times and Londonderry handed Pinkerton Academy its second boys lacrosse loss of the spring, 11-9.

Pinkerton erupted for nine goals in the second quarter and whipped Dover 16-2. Brett Dattilo, Chris Valentine and Jack Hanaway each had three goals on the game.

Micaela Capozzo and Maggie McCarthy both had four goals as Pinkerton slipped past Londonderry, 12-6, in a hotly-contested girls lacrosse game.

Chris Valentine had five goals, Todd Billetter four and Brett Dattilo three as Pinkerton raced past Salem 19-2.
