Haverhill Hillies Field Hockey '15

Hillie history

Cynthia Caruso scored with three minutes left in a scoreless contest to give Haverhill field hockey a 1-0 win over Lowell. The win in the regular-season finale clinched the MVC Division 2 title for the Brown and Gold. That put the Hillies in the record books on a couple of fronts. Andover (16-1-1) won the MVC Division 1 crown and Haverhill (10-6-1) took top honors in Division 2. Eagle-Tribune records go back through the 1989 season and this is the first title of any kind in those 27 years for the Hillies. From 1989 to present, this is also their most wins in a season and third state tourney berth. The 1996 club went 9-5-3. The Hillies made the postseason in 1996 and 1995. Sydney Demarais assisted on the big goal yesterday morning. Alex Comeau (4 saves) recorded her seventh shutout of the fall. The Hillies will try to make some more history in the state tourney. From 1989 to present, their only tourney win was a Division 1 North preliminary round victory over Framingham in 1995.
