Reece Millington remained on a roll as the postseason nears with four wins at 160 and Jake Prescott followed him by going 4-0 at 170 as Haverhill won three of four meets to improve to 18-10.

Central takes crown

 

As expected, Central Catholic rolled to the title of the 12-team Winnacunnet Tournament with 193 points, comfortably ahead of runner-up and MVC rival Haverhill (143 1/2).

The Raiders had three top seeds and they all came through with titles — 106-pounder Tyler Glynn, 126-pounder Tom Pagliarulo and 160-pounder Donovan Nolan. Finishing second for Central were Joey Sanchez (132), Dan Doherty (145), Brandon Desfosses (152) and Nick Janco (195). Desfosses picked up his first loss when he injury defaulted in the finals as a precaution.

Impressive win

 

Windham's wrestling team opened its season with an impressive 45-24 victory over Winnacunnet, the third-ranked Division 2 team in the state. Mike Tanguay and Patrick Hume had close decisions over two of Winnacunnet's best wrestlers at 182 and heavyweight and Sam Cavallaro edged rival Jaden Lesperance. who had beaten him at the state meet last year.
