HAVERHILL — Just eight days after smashing a nearly three-year MVC win drought, the Haverhill girls made in two victories in three games with a thrilling 52-50 win over Andover.

According to Eagle-Tribune records, the previous Haverhill girls hoop win over Andover was Feb. 12, 2004.

Jillian Webber notched 28 points as Andover snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Lawrence 61-35. Taylor Landry added 11 for the winners.

Methuen High's girls knocked off Andover, 49-48. The Rangers broke a 48-48 tie with a Kayla Dorandi free throw, then survived a wild final minute to hold off the Warriors for the win.

Andover girls basketball's state tourney hopes took a hit as the Golden Warriors (3-7) fell to Chelmsford 59-49. The Lions improved to 6-3.

Eagle-Tribune Super Teamer Alyssa Casey made her season debut for Andover on Friday, scoring 16 points to help beat North Andover 58-47 and end the Warriors' six-game losing streak. Jillian Webber led all scorers with 25 points, and North Andover was led by Abbie Karalis with 22 points.

Led by 16 points from sophomore Katie Kirsch, the Central Catholic girls basketball squad earned their fifth victory of the season with a 53-43 win over Andover. It only took the Raiders seven games to surpass their win total from last season, as the team now stands at 5-2.
