North Andover High's brilliant junior Erick Duffy put himself into the record books again with his performance over the weekend at the New Balance Nationals at the New York Armory.
Competing in the open division (top-seeded athletes) he took eighth in the pole vault. He cleared 15-9.25, adding a quarter-inch to his own area record, which includes indoor and outdoor track.
He did 15-9 in early February at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
The previous area mark was by Eagle-Tribune MVP Jake Radzevich with a 15-8 to win the New England Championships in the spring of 2002.
Timberlane senior Liam Kimball ran a 4:20.54 in the mile to finish 19th in the top division.
Numerous local athletes competed in the secondary divisions (emerging elite).
BOSTON — Having the 4x200 meter relay as the second event of the day benfited the Andover boys, who used their fresh legs to take first in the event at the New England Championship.
Andover finished the event with a time of 1:31.29, which was only .17 seconds ahead of second place Acton-Boxboro and .54 seconds ahead of third place Falmouth.
