NORTH ANDOVER — With just one line, a fan in the Central Catholic student section put into words what everyone at the ball-park was thinking, "Don't worry, he's got this."

The line was directed at Central's center fielder Johandy Gonzalez as he tracked down a deep fly ball in the top of the sixth, but it might as well have been said about the Raiders starting pitcher and recently crowned MVC Player of the Year Mike Mercuri.

Dom Keegan blasted a three-run home run over the left field fence to tie the game in the fifth, and Mike Mercuri tripled and scored on a wild pitch to give Central Catholic a 4-1 walkoff victory over Catholic Memorial.

Sophomore Jairo Vasquez only allowed two hits in his complete-game shutout for Lawrence, and they were both to Central Catholic's Kyle Coolidge.

Nick Panzini blasted a ball over the right fielder's head for a three-run triple, sparking an eight-run fifth inning that led Methuen to a 14-2 upset of Central Catholic. 

Will Conaton hurled 4.2 innings of one-hit ball and Steve Hajjar tossed 2.1 innings of one-hit relief as Central Catholic doubled up on North Attleboro 6-3.

LAWRENCE — After allowing five runs in the top of the first inning, Central Catholic baseball roared back with seven runs in the fourth and before holding on for a thrilling 8-7 win, clinching the win by throwing out the tying run at the plate to end the game.

The late drama began in the top of the seventh when Andover's Zach Marcus struck out but then reached first on a dropped third strike. Marcus moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt and then reached third on a passed ball to Dan Gemmell, putting the tying run on third with one out.

HAVERHILL – Roll out the carpet and Haverhill High can play a little baseball now, can't they? Days after stunning Lawrence High, the Hillies blanked Central Catholic, 3-0, here at Trinity Stadium to move to 7-6 on the year, 4-2 on the artificial stuff here at home.

Central Catholic managed just a single hit, but Andrew Purdy walked and scored on a fielder's choice and Noah Lucier took a base on balls and scored on a throwing error as the Raiders edged Methuen 2-1.

Sam Lara threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and Dom Keegan smashed a solo homer to lead Central Catholic to a 6-1 win over Billerica.
