Freshman standout Ariana Cruz ended her season going 3 for 4 and had a two-run homer in her last at-bat, but it wasn't enough as the Greater Lawrence's softball team lost to Brighton 7-4 in the Division 3 North quarterfinals.

 Greater Lawrence's softball team had a long and uncomfortable trip to Fenway for its Division 3 North opener, but it proved worthwhile with a 19-3 romp. The Reggies scored six runs in the first and 10 more in the second and then coasted to the five-inning rout.

The Reggies picked up the forfeit win as Minuteman disbanded during the season.

Vimary Vega cleared the bases with an inside the park grand slam in what was a 10-run fourth inning for Lawrence. The Lancers also got four RBI's from Brianna Rivera who had a triple, double and two singles.

Emily Ziens hit a game-tying grand slam in the fifth inning and picked up the win on the mound as Greater Lawrence beat Northeast 9-6. Greater Lawrence has now qualified for the state tournament for the fourth time in the last five years.

Arianna Cruz put Greater Lawrence Tech on top for good with a two-run homer — the freshman's fourhh of the year — to highlight an 8-run fourth in a 15-13 win over Greater Lowell.

Arianna Cruz (3 hits, 3 runs, 4 RBI) and Olivia Michaud (4 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI) powered Greater Lawrence to a 16-2 win over Notre Dame of Lawrence in 4.5 innings.

Winning pitcher Emily Viens returned from two weeks off with a hip injury and, along with several of her Greater Lawrence teammates, put on a hitting display by slugging two home runs over the fence, going 4 for 5 overall and driving in a stunning nine runs in a 16-8 romp over Northeast. Ariana Cruz led off the game with a long home run  and was also 4 for 5 and Venecia Perez joined them with four hits in five at-bats in a 22-hit explosion.

Leadoff batter Kaley Thibault was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBIs to spark unbeaten Whittier to a 15-1 romp over Greater Lawrence.
