Pentucket can't rally

 

Trailing 2-0 after a scoreless first half, the Pentucket boys soccer team applied the pressure late but couldn't overcome Wayland in the Division 3 North quarterfinals, falling 2-1. Jake Dickson scored for the Sachems (10-7-3) and Scott Eichel had 11 saves.

Pentucket routs O'Bryant

Nearly the entire Pentucket boys soccer program got in on the action as the Sachems blew out O'Bryant 5-0 in Friday's first round Division 3 North tournament game.

Jake Dickson and Matt Maloney each had two goals in the win, and Jacob Deziel scored the other to lead the offense. Pentucket held a comfortbale 4-0 lead at halftime, and coach Christian Langlois said he ultimately got 33 players into the game, including three goalies.

Hat trick

Jacob Deziel recorded a hat trick for Pentucket, scoring three goals to lead his team to a 4-1 win over Cape Ann League rival Triton.

Pentucket qualifies

Liam McDonough's first half penalty kick goal gave Pentucket the 1-0 win over North Reading and qualified the Sachems for the Division 2 tournament.

Killer D's

Pentucket (7-5-2) got a first half goal from Jake Dickson and another tally from Jacob Deziel late in the second half to pick up a big 2-1 win over Lynnfield (9-4-2). Junior Alec Perrotti made 8 saves for the Sachems.

Pentucket freshmen Nick Lamattina scored his first career varsity goal for North Reading. He played defense earlier in the year, but has moved to midfield.

Shooter's touch

Pentucket waited until the last minute to score the lone goal of the game and beat Rockport 1-0. The play started when Jacob Dezeil got a nice pass from Liam McDonough at the edge of the 18-yard box. Everyone, including the Rockport defenders, thought Deziel was going to shoot, but he instead fed a nice pass through two defenders to a streaking Morgan Capener who slid it past the goalie for the goal.

Pinball Wizard

Pentucket and Georgetown were tied at 1-1 with five minutes left, but then Jake Dickson and Seth Malonson decided to play a little pinball for the Sachems. Dickson fired a shot on goal that hit the top crossbar, causing the rebound to go to Malonson at the 18-yard box. Malonson immediately fired a shot back on net that was saved by Georgetown goalie Brendan Willis, but Dickson was right there to get the rebound and one-time it home to give Pentucket the 2-1 lead and eventual win.
