Haverhill dropped its quarterfinal softball matchup at Billerica, 9-2, but head coach Kara Melillo was upbeat about the season.

Kathleen Hartnett was sensational in defeat, pitching all 11 innings while striking out 16, and she also went 4 for 5 at the plate while the rest of the team combined to go 3 for 33 otherwise. Meg Hartnett drove in Andover's lone run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
