Knights fall short

 

North Andover's girls played Lowell tough but the host Red Raiders pulled away slightly in the fourth quarter to take a 62-50 victory in the Division 1 North first round. Emily Sifferlen had a strong 24-point performance in her final game for the Knights (11-10). Kelly Corrigan had 17 rebounds for North Andover.

Sifferlen finishes strong

Emily Sifferlen made her final MVC game a memorable one. The North Andover senior pumped in a career-high 28 points in a 64-39 win over Chelmsford. The Knights (11-9) will now get ready for the postseason.

Sifferlen helps Knights qualify

Senior Emily Sifferlen hit a free throw in the final seconds to lift North Andover to a 44-43 victory over rival Andover, but did her best work on the defensive end. Sifferlen (17 points, 9 rebounds) held Andover's Gia Bramanti (8 points) to below her season average of 13.1.The Knights (10-9) qualified for the state tournament with the win.

Haverhill's Jayla Kitchings had a huge day at the MSTCA Last Chance Meet, finishing first in the 55 hurdles, breaking her own school record and also jumping 17-2 for fifth  in the long jump to break Phong Nguyen’s 1996 school record of 16-10.

Andover earns first win in Christmas Tournament rout

LAWRENCE - Caroline McDonald knows as well as anyone that this year's Andover team is vastly different than the one that won the Commonwealth Motors Christmas Classic a year ago.

They're younger, without their two top scorers and under a first-year head coach. Even worse, they were off to an 0-2 start heading into yesterday's opening round of the tourney.
