Marathon match

Pentucket's Hayley Palermo pulled out a thrilling three-set victory at first singles to help the girls tennis team beat Masconomet 3-2. Palermo won 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the match after more than three hours of play. Audra Foster also won at second singles and the second doubles team of Annika Ellis and Brooke Daniels won as well.

Amesbury outlasts, but Aulson wins

Amesbury girls tennis picked up an exciting 3-2 win over Pentucket on Monday, but Pentucket's Maggie Aulson earned perhaps the most impressive victory of the day. The ailing captain won a three-set thriller 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 at third singles to keep the Sachems in the running. Pentucket also got a three-set win from Liza Russell and Riley Roche at first doubles (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) but Amesbury's Maddie Sartori, Ruth Guilbault and the team of Lia Wingfield and Mareike Mueller won their matches to give the Indians the victory.

DeKanter wins CAL Open title

Newburyport's Emilie DeKanter won the CAL Open first singles title after coming from behind to beat Hamilton-Wenham's Ella Provost 8-6. She also beat two others on the day to lead Newburyport to a second place team finish. The second doubles team of Lilly Page and Audra Greenblott also made a run to the championship match, winning their first two matches before falling to a tough team from Lynnfield.

Triton tennis wins marathon

Triton girls tennis needed all afternoon, but it pulled out a 3-2 win thanks to a win at second doubles by Luana Coetzer and Linda Freeman, who won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in a match that took more than two hours. Meri Fullford and Julia Casaletto also won their singles matches for Triton, and Pentucket got wins from Audra Foster and the team of Liza Russell and Riley Roach.
