Amesbury stays alive

The Amesbury baseball team kept its state tournament dream alive with an 8-6 win over Ipswich. The Indians fell behiind 6-3 after allowing six runs in the top of the fifth, but then answered with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away. Derek Doherty went 3 for 4 with two runs out of the leadoff spot,  Derek Beaupre also had two hits and two RBIs, and Graham Gannett took a no hitter into the fifth before Thomas Flanagan picked up his first win in relief. Amesbury is now 6-10 and will face Whittier Tech on Wednesday.

Wildcats go deep

 

Kyle Eddy blasted a three-run homer and Josh O'Brien followed in the same inning with a solo homer to highlight Whittier's 8-1 win over Ipswich and make a winner of Austin DeCosta. The Wildcats improved to 12-2.

Complete game

Jacob Adamsky tossed a complete game, allowing one unearned run with seven strikeouts as Georgetown beat Ipswich 2-1. Ethan Block and Tim Chianca each had RBIs as the Royals improved to 9-4.

Shea's day

Sophomore Aidan Shea went 2 for 4 with an RBI at the plate, and also caught Matt Michel's six-inning gem as Whittier took down Ipswich 9-1. The Wildcats led just 2-1 heading into the top of the seventh, but scored seven insurance runs in the inning after Ipswich pulled its starter.

Vikings rally late

Triton baseball traded runs with Ipswich throughout Thursday's game, but pulled ahead with two in the fifth and three in the sixth to win 7-5. Ross Lojek went 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBIs, Dylan Shute went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Marc Glickman got the win, allowing two earned runs in four innings of relief.

Bennett's big day

Amesbury's Blake Bennett had a monster day in Saturday's 16-4 win over Ipswich. The junior went 2 for 2 with a three-run home run and a two-run double. He also scored two runs and picked up his first win on the mound, striking out nine over 3.1 innings. Logan Burill also walked four times and scored three runs, Luke Lagos had two doubles and an RBI and Derek Doherty had two hits, including a two-run double, along with two stolen bases.
