WESTON — Breanna Yocum continued her stellar junior season by scoring eight goals. But despite her efforts, Pentucket lost to Weston, 18-12, in the Division 2 North semifinals last night.

Pentucket's girls lacrosse adnaced past the first round of the state tournament for the third straight year, defeating Tewksbury 23-18. Vanessa Cahill and Brianna Yocum both scored six goals for the Sachems (11-6), who will play St. Mary's in Lynn tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the next round, and Hillary Dandurant made 16 saves.

The Sachems (9-6) beat the Clippers on their last regular season home game, 18-7, and gave fond farewells to seniors Zoe McKenzie, K.C. Jones, Sarah Evers, Kayla Jewett, Autumn Gadd, and Kayla Melville. Jones (5 goals and 2 assists), Brianna Yocum (3 goals and 1 assist), Jewett (2 goals and 1 assist), Stephanie Fitzgerald (2 goals and 1 assist), Vanessa Cahill (2 goals and 1 assist), Zoe McKenzie (1 goal and 1 assist), Shannon Beaton (1 goal), Valerie Grimm (1 goal), Sarah Kopaciewicz (1 goal), Sarah Evers (1 assist), and Sarah Higgins (1 assist) all recorded points in the win. Jones, Jewett, and Melville were named to the CAL All-Star team, and Yocum was named to the CAL All-League team.

Vanessa Cahill tallied three goals and two assists for Pentucket (7-5). K.C. Jones (2 goals, 1 assist), Zoe McKenzie (2 goals), Kayla Jewett (2 goals, 3 assists), Stephanie Fitzgerald (1 goal, 2 assists), Breanna Yocum (2 goals, 1 assist), Shannon Beaton (1 goal, 2 assists), Autumn Gadd (2 goals, 1 assist), Kayla Melville (1 goal), Sarah Evers (2 goals), Madeline Parsons (1 goal), Sarah Kopaciewicz (2 assists), and Valerie Grimm (1 assist) sparked the offense. Goalie Hillary Dandurant made 11 saves.

Breanna Yocum had five goals for Pentucket (6-5). Vanessa Cahill added four goals. Kayla Jewett added three. Sarah Kopaciewicz scored one. Sarah Higgins, Shannon Beaton and Kayla Melville played well defensively, according to Pentucket coach Bob Pierce.

Vanessa Cahill (5 goals and 2 assists), K.C. Jones (5 goals and 2 assists), Kayla Jewett (2 goals), Stephanie Fitzgerald (1 goal and 3 assists), Brianna Yocum (4 goals), and Shannon Beaton (2 assists) all produced for the Pentucket Sachems (3-3).

Pentucket's girls lacrosse team followed its strategy and finally prevailed with a 14-13 victory over Georgetown as Breanna Yocum scored the winning goal with 12 seconds left. It was Yocum's sixth goal of the game.

K.C. Jones and Kayla Jewett had two goals and an assist each for the Sachems (1-1). Breanna Yocum, Sarah Ebers and Shannon Beaton added two goals each. Stephanie Fitzgerald had a goal and two assists. Zoe McKenzie scored a goal. Vanessa Cahill had two assists. Hillary Dandurant made 14 saves.

The Pentucket girls lacrosse team had four-goal leads in both the first and second half, but each time Manchester Essex rallied and a final goal with 40 seconds left gave the hoost Hornets a 12-11 win. Brianna Yocum scored four goals for the Sachems and freshman Shannon Beaton scored her first varsity goal and also had an assist.
