Gutierrez becomes citizen, leads Reggies

Paola Gutierrez officially became a United States citizen yesterday morning and then helped Greater Lawrence post a 50-23 victory over North Shore later on in the day. The 5-8 senior foward who moved here from the Dominican Republic back when she was 11 years old, scored 22 points.

It just keeps getting better for Whittier coach Kevin Bradley.

Just over a month removed from coaching the football team to the first Super Bowl championship in program history, Bradley earned his 200th career victory as Wildcats girls basketball coach last night in a 65-54 win over Greater Lawrence.

Four points, two tough losses

 It was a tough evening on the hardwood for Greater Lawrence Tech, which came up on the wrong end of a pair of two-point thrillers. Shabeli Villa tossed in 22 for the Reggie girls, who held a one point lead in the final minute but fell to Greater Lowell, 51-49. The Gryphons got the better of the Greater Lawrence boys, 63-61, overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit. Joey Rivera led Greater Lawrence with 18.
