Sophomore guard Shabeli Villa pumped in 27 points including five 3-pointers as Greater Lawrence finished up its season with a 62-48 win over Shawsheen. Paola Gutierrez chipped in 21 points.

Sophomore Shabeli Villa poured in 34 points and four 3-pointers to lead Greater Lawrence to a 78-65 win over Essex Aggie. 

"She had 30 vs. Whittier,'' noted Reggies coach Tara Mansour-Neilon. "She came to play today. We've been waiting for that explosion.''

Paola Gutierrez officially became a United States citizen yesterday morning and then helped Greater Lawrence post a 50-23 victory over North Shore later on in the day. The 5-8 senior foward who moved here from the Dominican Republic back when she was 11 years old, scored 22 points. 

It just keeps getting better for Whittier coach Kevin Bradley.

Just over a month removed from coaching the football team to the first Super Bowl championship in program history, Bradley earned his 200th career victory as Wildcats girls basketball coach last night in a 65-54 win over Greater Lawrence. 

 It was a tough evening on the hardwood for Greater Lawrence Tech, which came up on the wrong end of a pair of two-point thrillers. Shabeli Villa tossed in 22 for the Reggie girls, who held a one point lead in the final minute but fell to Greater Lowell, 51-49. The Gryphons got the better of the Greater Lawrence boys, 63-61, overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit. Joey Rivera led Greater Lawrence with 18.

METHUEN — Considering the circumstances, Joe DeBlois' expectations of a .500 season may have seemed lofty.

After all, he had assumed the head coaching position of Presentation of Mary's girls basketball team just a couple of weeks before the season started. Bob Melillo, the Commonwealth Conference Small Coach of the Year rewarding a 14-7 season, had left to helm the Haverhill program.

With 21 points, Shabeli Villa had almost half of Greater Lawrence Tech's points but the Reggies still fell to Minuteman, 60-44. Charina Tatis turned n a strong defensive effort with five deflections and four blocks for Greater Lawrence.

Shabeli Villa and Paola Gutierrez each pumped in 21 points as Greater Lawrence trumped Lynn Tech 59-43. Villa connected on foiur 3-pointers while Gutierrez grabbed 15 rebounds.

Paola Gutierrez tallied a game-high 20 points and added a whopping 17 rebounds as Greater Lawrence held on late for a 46-43 victory over Greater Lowell. 

Danielle Martin pumped in 19 points and birthday girl Jessica Goulet added 12 and blocked seven shots as Whittier whipped Greater Lawrence 75-56. Shabeli Villa erupted for 30 points for the Reggies, 18 in fourth quarter.
