Left without his flashy pink javelin because of a weigh-in issue prior to the meet, Andover's Mark Zavrl was forced to borrow a javelin from a competitor from Lowell yesterday.

It could have thrown him off, but the Red Raider javelin worked just fine for the Golden Warrio.

Central Catholic won the two day North Sectional Decathlon at Burlington High with strong performances by Alex Dehullu, Jeremy Zannini and D'Andre Drummond-Mayrie.

Despite only one individual winner — Devon Lattrell, who won the javelin — Central Catholic easily outdistanced the rest of the 21-team field to win the Andover Boosters Track Meet.

Football standout Fortune Kalala scored a stellar 43-3 1/2 in the triple jump, the best in the area this season, as Central Catholic downed Andover 88-57. Golden Warrior Frank Borseti, a newcomer to the high jump, won the event with a 5-10, while Raider Alex Dehullu won both hurdles.

The North Andover boys javelin relay team of Greg MacArthur, Ryan Quinn, Dennis Graef finished seventh, but broke a school record (403-9 1/2). 

Alex Dehullu's sweep of the hurdles and a pair of personal-bests highlighted Central Catholic's 104-34 track victory over Chelmsford. Jamahl Lopez set a new personal standard in the high jump (6-0) as did Devon Lattrell in the javelin (168-7).
