FITCHBURG — For awhile last night, about 60 miles away from home, it appears the Andover High girls volleyball team was going to shock the state's volleyball hierarchy.

They won the first game, easily, over Newton North, 25-12. It took a two games to one lead after an exciting 25-20 win in Game 3. And then, in Game 4, Andover jumped ahead 7-2 in the potential clincher.

TEWKSBURY — For three years, Azita Bakhtyari dreamed of playing in the state championship game, only to finish just short of her goal.

On Thursday night, Bakhtyari and her Andover High teammates made the fantasy a reality, and did so in decisive fashion.

North Andover High's stock continues to rise.

Azita Bakhtyari's 33 assists led the way while Wyllie Boughton added 10 digs, three blocks and four aces.

Bakhtyari and Boughton helped third-seeded Andover roll 3-0 over seventh-seeded Chelmsford in the semifinals of the Division 1 North girls volleyball tournament.

Andover's volleyball team had no trouble defeating Lexington, the same team that coach Jane Bergen used to coach and where she still coaches the boys. Maddy Repucci had 14 kills and three blocks for the Warriors (20-1) who host the winner of Malden/Chelmsford Thursday night. 

Andover's girls volleyball team ended a tremendous 17-1 regular season with a shutout of Central Catholic. Wyllie Boughton had nine kills and four kills for the Warriors and Azita Bakhtyari had 35 assists.

Junior Wyllie Boughton had an impressive seven blocks, six aces and 13 digs to spark Andover's volleyball team (14-1) to a 3-1 victory over Chelmsford.

North Andover volleyball handed Andover its first loss with a 3-0 sweep at North Andover. 

It was revenge after the Golden Warriors had swept the Knights in Andover earlier this season. 

Maddy Reppucci had 13 kills and 7 blocks and Wyllie Boughton added 16 service points and 11 kills as Andover's volleyball team remained unbeaten (11-0) with a sweep of Haverhill.

Azita Bakhtyari recorded 28 assists and three aces to lead Andover to a 3-0 sweep of Reading in girls volleyball. The Golden Warriors improved to 10-0 and qualified for the tourney.
