Motivated by its coach, Andover wins state title

Andover's swimming team had a relatively close meet against Chelmsford just a week ago, but the Warriors overwhelmed the Lions and the rest of the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 1 meet at Haverhill.

Lea Guldemond, Kylee Dion and Alyvia Petrozza were all quadruple winners and Central Catholic swimming beat Haverhill 99-87. Raider coach Carlton Cronin said it was the first time the Raiders ever beat the Hillies.

Friday the Brown in Brown and Gold was Emily Brown. The senior quad-captain won three events as did Cait Broderick and Michaela Sliney and Haverhill swimming rolled to a 96-85 win over Dracut.

Michaela Sliney not only breezed to first in her specialty, diving, but captured first in the 100 breastsroke and was on two winning relay teams to pace haverhill to a 95-86 victory over Melrosecwon 

Freshmen Sophia Ju and Melissa Zhang are known for their synchronized swimming talents but now are proving to be talented traditional swimmers. They were among the Andover stars in a win over Haverhill.

Michaela Sliney and Cait Broderick each won four events and Haverhill swimming rolled past Notre Dame-Tyngsboro.
