Haverhill may be out of the state tournament. The Hillies keep fighting, though. Last night on "Senior Night," the Hillies stepped up big, stunning MVC small champ Tewksbury, 60-56. Captain Matt Fenderson led the way with 16 points. Hard-nosed Albert Maldonado added 10, while fellow seniors Sean Doherty and Gage Alicea combined for 13 points and huge minutes on the floor to preserve the win.

Avery Cerow hit a 3-pointer to give Haverhill the lead, and Navin Cruz and Matt Fenderson each hit key free throws down the stretch as the Hillies topped Lowell 44-43.

Sophomore Navin Cruz had a career-high 24 points as Haverhill ripped Dracut 75-46. Matt Fenderson had a fine all-around game with 10 points and 8 assists. 

A controversial foul call at the buzzer on a well-contested three-point try by Winchester doomed Haverhill in a painful, 76-74 loss. Mike Grassi (31 points) made all three freebies handed to turn a 74-73 Hilie win into the defeat. The Hillies, who had led by 20 early, got 16 from Navin Cruz and 15 from Matt Fenderson in the loss.

Matt Fenderson scored 21 points in all but 15 of them came in the in fourth quarter to erase a 18-point second half deficit as Haverhill won 79-78 over Dracut in consolation game at the Holiday Tourney at Lowell Catholic. 

Sophomore Avery Cerow scored a career-high 15 points and Navin Cruz chipped in 12 for Haverhill, which fell to St. John's Prep 74-58.

Navin Cruz (14 points), Matt Fenderson (11 points),  Mike Battaini (12 points) and Gage Alicea (17 points) all scored in double figures to lead Haverhill boys basketball 70-56 over Dracut.
