LAWRENCE — Trailing Methuen 1-0 after the first game and 22-20 in the second game, No. 1 seed Central Catholic got the break it needed Friday night in the Division 1 North semifinals.

Methuen's surging volleyball team tuned up for the upcoming Division 1 tournament with a sweep of Dracut. Abby Sullivan led the Rangers (15-5) with 11 kills and five blocks and Cristina Lucas had 10 service points, including four aces, and five digs.;

Red-hot Abby Sullivan had a season-high 22 kills and 10 blocks as Methuen improved to 14-5 with a 3-1 victory over Lowell. Cristina Lucas led the team in service points and digs.

Methuen's volleyball team continued its excellent season, winning its 12th match but, like most contests against Haverhill, it wasn't easy. Led by junior Abby Sullivan, who had 20 kills and 7 blocks, the Rangers won in five games.

Abby Sullivan scored 17 kills and 10 blocks as Methuen scored its ninth win in 11 games, a 25-13, 25-19, 25-20 victory over Tewksbury.

Down 2-0, North Andover came back to win the next three games and beat Methuen, going extra points to win the last two games 26-24 and 19-17. Sophie Myers had 16 kills for the Knights, Natasha Stewart had 37 saves and Greta Hoehn had eight aces.

Methuen volleyball earned its seventh win in a row with a 3-0 game sweep of Malden behind 11 kills from Abby Sullivan. The Rangers had a season-high 19 kills.

Methuen volleyball only had four missed serves and tallied 17 aces in a dominant 3-0 win over Billerica. Hailey McDonnell had 13 kills and 5 aces, and Cristina Lucas had 10 service points and 11 digs.
