Gillette 2-hitter


Andover beat Bishop Fenwick, 4-0, to win the Geanoulis Tourney. Tourney MVP Cedric Gillette, with his 86 MPH fastball, whiffed 12 for the Golden Warriors in a complete-game effort.
Gillette threw a two-hitter and only walked one batter as Andover continued to make a case for a Super 8 berth.
Mike Reilly doubled in two runs. The Golden Warriors improved to 15-5.

It was another strong out for Andover sophomore Josh Gruenberg. He threw a complete game shutout of Chelmsford allowing only four hits, and Dylan Melody blasted a two-run home run in the first inning to help the Warriors win 5-0.

Dan Gemmell singled, advanced to second on a bunt and third on a sacrifice fly then scored on a single by Caeden Dillman to give Andover a 3-2 walkoff win over Haverhill in nine innings.

Wild end for Warriors

With the tying run at third and the go-ahead run at first in the bottom of the seventh, Andover pitcher Alex Ladd threw to second baseman Caeden Dillman to pick the runner off at second, then Dillman fired home to catcher Phil Leblanc to catch the runner coming in from third to lock down the Golden Warriors' 8-7 win over Lawrence.

Down some arms due to injury, Andover's Tim Kalantzakos took to the mound for his first start of the year and shut out Lowell 5-0 with eight strikeouts. He also went 1 for 1 at the plate and drove in two runs to help his cause.

Josh Gruenberg pitched himself to a 4-0 lead through six innings for Andover, and was pulled to start the seventh. But when Dracut rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, Gruenberg, who went to left field and never technically came out of the game, returned to the mound to get the final out in the Warriors' 4-3 win.
