Moral victory?

Timberlane's softball team played its best game of the year in a 1-0 loss to Alvirne. Freshman pitcher Amanda Butterfield scattered seven hits and only walked two and the Owls (1-13) played errorless balls. Unfortunately, star freshman Taylor Carbone threw a sparkling one-hitter for Alvirne.

Owls nab first win

Thanks to a big four-run fifth inning, Timberlane grabbed its first win of the season with a 5-3 victory over Keene. Jessica Zeidler (1 for 4, two RBIs, run) and Chelsea Mattinson (2 for 4, RBI, run) both had RBI singles in the decisive fifth frame. Courtney Marchand set the table from the leadoff spot, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Lancers' future is now

Timberlane was the latest Class L victim to find out that, although very young, Londonderry is very good. After handing Concord its first loss Saturday, the Lancers remained in a first place tie with Spaulding by beating the Owls yesterday, 13-3.

Owls' progress

Timberlane's young softball team remained winless, but it played its best game of the season in a 5-2 loss to a strong Dover club. Freshman Amanda Butterfield showed her best control of the year on the mound, walking just two while striking out five, and Courtney Marchand had a two-run triple.
