ANDOVER - Robert Jones had a brilliant debut as Phillips opened the season with a 49-35 win over Loomis Chaffee.

Jones, a post-grad out of Wayland (Mass.) High, carried 11 times for 125 yards and three scores and complete 13 of 16 passes for 252 yards and four scores.

The score was deadlocked at 35-35 after three quarters but the Big Blue took charge in the fourth as Jones scored on a 24-yard run and hit Hallvard Lundevalle (5-101, 2 TDs) on a 6-yard scoring strike.

Phillips got out of the gate quickly with senior Jack Belluche opening the scoring hauling in a 55-yard pass from Jones.

John Simourian led the defense with 11 tackles and a sack.

Phillips is at at Kent Saturday, 6 p.m.
