NORTH ANDOVER —Last season, Jalen Martinez rushed 36 times for 253 yards and scored two touchdowns.

In Saturday's season opener against Pomfret, he nearly exceeded that in the first quarter.

The 5-11, 200-pound co-captain from Methuen scored four times in the first quarter and five times in the first half. He finished with nine carries for 168 yards and the five scores as Brooks rolled 47-26.

It was a strange game as Pomfret scored early then Brooks outscored the visitors 47-7 the rest of the half. After that tremendous offensive display, the Green and White were held scoreless in the second half.
