No. 3 Lawrence, which had state title aspirations, was stunned by No. 11 Wayland (25-21, 25-19, 25-21) in the North volleyball quarterfinals.
"They are a very good team. Very disciplined," said Lancer coach Tony Hajjar. "We were off our game. It happens."
When asked where they strugged, Hajjar replied, "Everything. There were a lot of unearned points, 40. When you do that, you aren't going to win."
Lawrence finishes at 18-3 while Wayland improved to 15-7.
