NORTH ANDOVER — It wasn’t the start that Brooks wanted for the beginning of the Alex Konovalchik era.

Playing in its first ever night game, Brooks stayed close through the first half before BB&N opened the game up with three scores in the third quarter and cruised to a 42-13 win at North Andover High’s Walsh Field.

“BB&N is probably the best team in our league and by playing excellent football in the first half, we took a big step tonight,” said Konovalchik.

Had it not been for a late first-half fumble, Brooks would have trailed just 6-0 at the break. But BB&N took advantage on the second TD pass of the half to brilliant junior Jimmy McCaffrey, a Division 1 college prospect.

Brooks broke through in the fourth quarter as Derek Murphy hauled in a 29-yard pass from Jordan Johnson.
