It was one of those days where the Hornets (12-1-3) couldn't find the back of the net despite 16 corners. Senior inner Jen Bishop scored just 51 seconds into the game with an assist from junior left wing Amelia Burke. Senior center halfback Meredith Crofton was another standout for Manchester Essex, who also had two goals called back.
The Hornets travel to Lynnfield on Monday as the top two teams in the CAL Small square off.
