NASHUA — Timberlane will get to defend its state volleyball championship, against Hollis-Brookline, but it wasn't easy getting to that position.

The Number 1-seed Owls rallied from a loss in the first game to Windham Thursday night and then survived a fifth game with a nerve-wracking 20-18 victory to advance to Saturday's 6 p.m. finals back here at Nashua North High School.

Griffin Lippold led Windham with 18 kills, and Joe Zollo made 35 assists to lead the Jaguars over Souhegan 3 games to 1 in the New Hampshire quarterfinals. Ever since a straight-game loss to Salem in game three of the regular season, the Jaguars have won 13 of their last 14 games now headed into a heavyweight clash with top-seed Timberlane in the semis. The Owls won the only matchup between the two teams 3 games to 1 in both team's first match of the season.

Windham's volleyball team avenged an early season loss to Salem with a 3-1 win over the Blue Devils. Griffin Lippold led the Jaguars (11-3) with 16 kills and Joe Zollo had 38 assists.

Sophomore Luke Leonard had nine kills and six blocks and Will Carpenter had 37 digs as Windham's volleyball team (8-2) won its seventh straight, 3-1 over Souhegan.

Griffin Lippold scored 24 kills and Joe Zollo added 44 assists and four aces as Windham dealt Pinkerton its first loss of the season, 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19. The Jaguars are now 6-2.

Luke Leonard had eight kills and four blocks and Griffin Lippold had 13 digs and three aces as Windham's volleyball team improved to 5-2 with a shutout of Bishop Guertin.
