Carroccio just misses hitting for cycle

Phillips split a doubleheader with Deerfield, losing the first game 7-4 and winning the second game 7-4. Bennett Carroccio stroked a single, double and triple and had two RBIs in Game 2. Tom Palleschi of Haverhill picked up the save in the second game.

Elder statesman

After Nobles came from behind to take the lead in the sixth inning, Zac Elder became a hero in Phillips' 7-6 victory. The junior drove in the tying run in the seventh on a double then scored the eventual game-winner on Fred Shepard's single. Elder then threw out Nobles' leadoff hitter trying to steal second and Kyle Franco struck out the last two batters to lock up the win.

Four score

Bennett Carroccio lashed a fifth-inning, bases-loaded double to tie the game, moved to third on an error on the play and scored on a wild pitch as Phillips bounced back for a 5-4 decision over Worcester Academy. Haverhill's Tom Palleschi doubled and scored the Big Blue's first run, helping Methuen's Tom Hamel pick up his first victory of the young season.

Bennett Carroccio smashed a grand slam and Tom Palleschi added three hits, two runs and an RBI as Phillips waxed Bridgton 14-2. North Reading's Jack Doyle, Haverhill's Palleschi and Methuen's Tom Hamel combined for the win.
