Andover's Rothmann shines at D1 All-States

BOSTON — Methuen’s boys made the most of their first trip to the Division 1 All-State meet in four years with a superb performance at Franklin Park Saturday.

Saving its best performance of the season to last, the Rangers finished third with 127 points, trailing behind just MVC foe Lowell (97) and Cambridge (107).

Haverhill junior Jillian Lemieux had a terrific personal-best time of 18:56 on the 2.9-mile Winnekennin Park course to finish second for the Hillies, who fell to powerful Billerica 19-40 but whipped Lawrence 15-50.

The Central Catholic girls cross country team had its best multi-team win in recent memory Wednesday afternoon, nipping both Haverhill (27-28) and Chelmsford (25-30). "I can't even remember the last time we beat either of them," said 11-year Central coach Colette Madore.
