Pinkerton falls to Central in semis

NASHUA — Pinkerton's storybook season came to an abrupt finish in Wednesday's other Division 1 state semifinal, as the Astros were simply overwhelmed by Manchester Central 2-0.

Manchester Central, highly underseeded at No. 9, controlled the ball for the vast majority of the game, holding the No. 4 Astros without a shot on goal while forcing Pinkerton goalie Max Fairbank to make 12 stops. Central took the lead early in the second half on a header by Maximus Kalampalikis off a free kick by William Chappell, and then got a late goal by Joshue Assantha to put the game away.

Fairbank sends Astros to semis

It took over 100 minutes to determine who was moving onto the boys soccer semis between Pinkerton and Hanover. After two overtime periods failed to yield a winner, the game went to PK's. Needing one more save to pick up the win, Pinkerton goalie Max Fairbanks got it done to lift Pinkerton to what would be a 1-0 victory in the Division 1 quarterfinals (3-2 in PK's).

Astros advance

 

Alex Rust scored twice, both on assists from Brian Castle, as the Pinkerton boys soccer team cruised past Keene 3-1 in the first round of the Division 1 tournament. The Astro) will now host Hanover at 2 p.m. Saturday in a matchup of two teams riding 11-game winning streaks.

Astros upend Exeter

The Pinkerton boys soccer team completed its astonishing regular season with a 1-0 victory over defending state champion Exeter, marking the team's 10th consecutive win. Cole Perry scored the goal for Pinkerton, which finishes up at 12-4 after at one point losing four straight to drop to 2-4 back in September.

Pinkerton blanked Bishop Guertin, 4-0, with Alex Rust (2), Hunter Rathburn and Terence Coyle scoring for 10-4 Pinkerton. It was win No. 299 for coach Kerry Boles. He'll go for No. 300 Tuesday at 4 p.m. when PA hosts 10-3-1 Concord.

Astros win in OT

Pinkerton's Cole Perry scored in the 89th minute to help lead the boys soccer team past Alvirne 1-0 in overtime. Brian Castle had the assist and Max Fairbank made seven saves to record his fifth consecutive shutout.

Londonderry came in undefeated but Pinkerton came away the winner in the Mack Plaque boys soccer matchup, winning 2-0.

Alex Rust and Ashim Gurung both scored in the second half for the win for the Astros, now 4-4.

Josh Fichera scored in the 25th minute as Salem won its homecoming matchup with Pinkerton, 1-0. Lucas Moreno made a slick tackle and the Blue Devils (now 6-0) caught the visiting Astros off guard.
